Mrs Nettie's Middle School Classes

I would like to welcome you all to a new  year exploring and discovering English Language Arts and Social Studies. Here at the St. James Parish Gifted Center, I teach 6th grade ELA and Social Studies and  7th grade ELA and Social Studies.  Although my first certification is in Middle School English, this is my first year teaching ELA here at the Gifted Center.  I am sure that both the students and I  will face new challenges within this subject matter, but will work together to master content in Grammar, Reading, Vocabulary and Interpreting literature.  In Social Studies, we will enjoy discussion and debate along with creating opinions about world and current events.

This is my 8th year here at the Gifted Center, starting out as an Interventionist and becoming a teacher here in my 3rd year.  In December of 2013, I received my Masters in the Art of Teaching from Nicholls State University.  I am also certified to teach Art.   I enjoy my students and involving them in creative activities which bring about life-long learning.
